Stuart Young was on Monday sworn in as Prime Minister of the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Young, who was the country’s Energy Minister, took over the reins of government from former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley following his resignation.
In a press statement issued through the CARICOM Secretariat, CARICOM’s Chair and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley in welcoming Young as a new Head of Government offered him congratulations on his installation as the Eighth Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
Prime Minister Mottley said, “We look forward to the continued robust participation of Trinidad and Tobago in shaping and executing CARICOM’s response to current and emerging global affairs, including Energy and Security (Drugs and Illicit Arms), for which Prime Minister Young will have lead responsibility in the CARICOM Quasi-cabinet”
Caricom, Prime Minister Mottley commits its full support to Prime Minister Young and his government to continue to chart a stable, secure, and prosperous future for the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the Region.
