Attorney General Anil Nandlall has moved to the court seeking to appeal the ruling of Acting Chief Justice Roxanne George that the former Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority, Lelon Saul was wrongfully terminated by Housing Minister Collin Croal in 2020.

Justice George ruled that Minister Croal had no authority to dismiss Saul but the board through which he was hired. She also ruled that he should be paid salaries and benefits for the twenty-nine months remaining on his contract.

Nnadlall in court documents filed said the Chief Justice erred and misdirected herself when she ruled that the former CHPA CEO was wrongfully terminated.

He also makes the claim, that Justice George erred when she ruled that Minister Croal was not vested with the power to terminate Saul.

The Attorney General also contended that the Chief Justice erred and misdirected herself in the law by not allowing the appellant to file an affidavit of defence after the dismissal of the application to strike out to claim, and consequently, breached the rules of natural justice and fundamental justice.

Nandall believes, that Justice George’s ruling that Saul should be paid for the remaining of his contract was excessive and believes that the appeal court to set aside ruling to be set aside, reversed, or varied.

Saul who approached the coach for judicial review is represented by attorney Darren Wade.
