Officers attached to the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) as they arrive at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court with a box full of documents to begin the process of filing charges against Assistant Police Commissioner Calvin Brutus.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on Wednesday night advised SOCU to move ahead and charge the Assistant Police Commissioner.
240 charges have been recommended against Brutus who is running two multimillion dollar companies with his wife.
The Assistant Police Commissioner who is reported to have $500 million in several bank accounts in his name; in the name of companies owned by him and his wife and in the name of their five-year-old son as well as $300 million worth in assets said he followed all the necessary procedures which will confirm how he amassed his wealth.
Brutus is expected to be charged alongside several other persons.
