A thirty-six-year-old Princess Street man is dead following a collision on the Windsor Forest Public, West Coast Demerara. The deceased was identified as Stephon Birkett.

According to a statement released by the Police, a 63-year-old man behind the wheel of a motor car bearing registration number PDD 3036, which was parked on the northern side of the Windsor Forest Public Road facing east when the driver made a sudden U-Turn and collided with the speeding motorcycle.

Birkett, the statement said, was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of the collision. Birkett was picked up in an unconscious condition by an ambulance and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was examined and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital. At approximately 18:20 hrs he succumbed while receiving treatment. 

The driver of the car remains in custody as the police continue their investigation.
