Police in Regional Division 4A are investigating an overnight break-in of the Robb and Light Street Location of Andrews Supermarket.

According to a statement issued by the Corporate Communications Department of the Police Force the bandits escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash after breaking into the supermarket’s cash registers and stealing two metal safes from the MoneyGram office.

The break-in of the four-story concrete building occurred between 22 hrs on Wednesday and 7:45 hrs today.

The supermarket is located on the first ground floor while the MoneyGram and manager’s office are located on the second floor. The third and fourth stories are used as storage.

The statement said, the building was secured by the manager at 22:00hrs on Wednesday. However, the manager returned this morning and found the storage bond door open and the MoneyGram office ransacked. Additionally, two safes containing an undisclosed amount of cash were missing.

The police said no guards were on duty at the supermarket during the break-in. However, several persons were questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
