The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is urging citizens to uplift their national identification cards. The call according to the commission is for those with completed transactions which includes new applicants, corrections or replacements dating back to 2008.

The commission said it is aware that many persons have moved since they applied, making it difficult to uplift their cards. Those persons are advised to visit the nearest registration office and have arrangements put in place to transfer the cards to their new addresses.

Identification cards can be uplifted at all permanent GECOM locations countrywide between the hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Thursday and on Friday until 3:30PM. It should also be noted that offices will be closed for lunch from 12PM to 1 PM.
