Since the use of plastic is a part of our daily lives, the Guyana Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission hosted a Webinar today in observance of world consumer rights day, under the theme “Tackling Plastic Pollution”. With plastic waste continuing to accumulate in landfills and waterways, endangering wildlife and humans, the Guyana Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission encourages all to be cognizant of their use of plastic and act responsibly to the disposal of plastic. Panelist, Dwayne Hackett, Co-founder of Sea-walls and Beyond, posited that plastic pollution has somehow become a norm for many. Environmental Officer from the Environmental Protection Agency, Ladonna Kissoon, emphasized that in order to tackle plastic pollution we first need to start from our homes. She added that the Environmental Protection Agency is considering alternatives to plastics.
