Former Finance Minister Winston Jordan appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where a charge of misconduct in public office read to him.
The charge was filed by the Special Organised Crime Unit. The prosecutor told the court that between February 25th and June 11, 2020, Jordan acted recklessly when he signed vested order #69 of 2020 which represents more than five acres of land.
According to the SOCU the land which was sold for just over $2.4 million at Lot PSS Plantation Beterwaghting and Sparendaam is valued more.
Mr. Jordan’s legal team Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde and Attorney Dawn Cush told the court that the charge was a waste of the court’s time.
He was granted his pretrial liberty in the sum of $150,000 and is expected back in Court on April 23.
Mr. Jordan, an outspoken critic against the government’s management of the country and its resources, had a similar charge dismissed against him almost two years ago.
