Five men are in police custody in connection with a 465.175 pounds cocaine bust in the North West District.
According to a statement issued by the Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) of the Guyana Police Force, ranks during an intelligence-led operation on Tuesday in the Imbotero area of the Barima River executed a search of a fuel storage bond owned by Anthony Hosea Beria or Anthony Hosea Yispen and called “Negro.”. While the ranks came up empty-handed for drugs in the bond, they did seize 11 cellular phones and three handheld radio sets. Also, a suspect did manage to flee the scene before the raid.
However, they later arrested four men – Leroy Williams, a 45-year-old fisherman; Patrick Sam, a 58-year-old farmer; Anthony Lewis, a 47-year-old farmer; and 47-year-old Marlon Jerome, unemployed, led officers to four separate locations along the Imbotero creek where bags containing parcels of cocaine were found.

The four men were cautioned and placed in custody. The 465.175 cocaine carried an approximate value of $317.55 million.

The main suspect, Anthony Hosea Beria was arrested sometime later and is said to be assisting officers with their investigation.
