Social media commentator, Mikhil Rodrigues called “Guyanese Critic” lost his bid to overturn a High Court judgement against him in favour of the Mohameds – Nazar and Azruddin.
The court had ruled that Rodrigues must pay the Mohameds $52 million, but he moved to appeal the decision which was unsuccessful. Apart from paying the $52 million he is now expected to pay costs to the Mohameds.
The matter was heard by Justice Nigel Niles who also ruled that an injunction against Rodrigues and his ‘They Break News’ Company still stands and prevents him from further defaming the Mohameds. His appeal to the injunction was dismissed.
The Mohameds in their lawsuit filed against Rodrigues said between February and March of 2024 he defamed them during his morning programme.
