A female constable and an overseas based Guyanese man are in hospital nursing gunshot injuries they sustained at the hands of a 50 year old male constable. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 19:15 hrs.
Reports are that 48 victim Jammaine Saul and 50 year old Miguel Wilson were sitting together chatting at the Constabulary Outpost at Bourda Market when the suspect approached them.
According to the police statement, the constable who was armed with a .38 service revolver was angry at the sight of the two and discharged three rounds at them. Saul was injured to her left hand while Wilson was injured to his left thigh.
They were both rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where they were admitted and are receiving treatment for their injuries. Both are said to be in a stable condition.
The suspect who has not been named fled to scene with the service weapon issued to him. Further, the statement said that investigators visited the man’s West Ruimveldt Address but he was not there.
The police said that they are reviewing CCTV camera in the area as they continue their investigation.
