A 52-year-old man is under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) following the brutal killing of his former partner and mother of his eight-year-old son – Bibi Ally – 34 on Wednesday.
The suspect – Bidraj Ganesh according to a statement released by the Corporate Communications Unit of the Police Force ingested a poisonous substance for which he is being treated at the GPHC under guard. Ganesh was arrested almost two hours after Ally was pronounced dead.
The tragic incident occurred at the Annandale Sand Reef home of Ganesh. Reports are that Ally moved out of the home she shared with Ganesh and his relatives in December after he accused her of infidelity.
Ally, a sweeper cleaner returned to the Lusignan home of her mother but would frequent her former residence as it was not far from the school she worked at.
Reports are that teachers reported noticing Ally missing. However, 15 minutes after noon her son rushed to his aunt who also works at the school, informing her that his father had attacked his mother and fled in a taxi.
The woman went to the Annandale Police Outpost where the matter was reporter. Emergency responders transported Ally to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out on her remains to ascertain the cause of death, as the police continue their investigation.
Bibi’s mother Babita Ally told reporters that her daughter suffered physical and financial about at the hands of the suspect.
